Solshine Yoga in New Bedford Ma, offers a wide range of classes for all levels and abilities.  Our classes incorporate essential oils, reiki, sound healing, a friendly atmosphere and great music!

Class Descriptions:

Guided Mediation: Join us for peace, centering and healing!  Practice a number of meditation techniques including; Sound Healing, Essential Oils, and Reiki Energy Healing, in partnership with guided visualization and affirmations for a truly peaceful experience!

Movement Scale: Level 0, no movement required


Restorative Yoga: Our restorative yoga workshops involve poses that are supported by props that allow you to completely relax and rest. Held for 5 minutes or more, restorative poses include light twists, seated forward folds, side stretches and gentle backbends.

Movement Scale: Level 1, very light movement required


Beginners Yoga: Beginners Yoga is a great way to start your yoga practice. It is a gentle and appropriate for all abilities and wonderful for the experienced yogi. This class will focus on fundamentals from pranayama (breathing) techniques to learning asana (poses). Learn proper alignment with variations to support your physical needs. Yoga is much more than a physical excercise, each class learn the mental aspects of why yoga is so good for you.  This class incorporates aromatherapy and sound healing. It will leave you feeling relaxed and energized.

Movement Scale: Level 2 – moderate movement


Yoga for Athletes: This class is a wicked good stretch combined with a strengthening and restorative yoga practice. It is a great way to balance your more intense workouts. Gain flexibility, balance, and strength while preventing injury. This all levels class is great for anyone who has a regular fitness practice and perfect for beginner yogis.

Movement Scale: Level 2 – Moderate Movement


Hatha Yoga is an old system that includes the practice of asana (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), which help bring peace to the mind and body. It is a relatively gentle, and slow paced class that is great for beginners or students who prefer a more relaxed style where they hold poses longer.

Movement Scale: Level 3 – moderate movement


Yoga Elements: Yin and Yang: Yoga Elements is a holistic and mindful yoga practice. Yin and Yang infuses traditional eastern principles of Chinese Medicine and energetic principles of Reiki into traditional yoga.  This practice will promote Elements of Yang: stillness within movement, continually flowing breath-led sequences, balanced with postural alignment.  This practice will promote Elements of Yin: movement within stillness, calming, deeply restorative and meditative postures, appropriately supported with props and conscious breathing.

Movement Scale: Level 3 – moderate movement


Sol Rising: Awaken with Alexis! In this invigorating yoga class you will find the perfect burst of energy first thing in the morning. A fun flow including strengthening and cardio moves to wake you up and get the juices flowing! Leave this class feeling refreshed, charged up and ready to have a productive day.  All levels are welcome.

Movement Scale: Level 4 – moderate to high activity


Sol Yoga Flow: A Vinyasa inspired yoga that integrates breathing practices with mindful movement.  Enjoy an energizing flow, while building strength, balance, stability, mobility and flexibility. Clear your mind with this mindful exercise.  The class will conclude with restorative poses and savasana, leaving you feeling refreshed. This class is appropriate for students of all levels.

Movement Scale: Level 4 – moderate to high activity

Sunset Sol Flow: Enjoy the sun setting over Clark’s Cove while flowing through your practice.  This class will emphasize alignment as a way to develop your focus and understanding of asana (poses).  It’s about using the connection of breath and movement to become absorbed in the present.  Find freedom and flow with ease. This class wonderful for beginners, with lots of verbal cues and the opportunity for hands on adjustments.  This class is helpful for seasoned yogis who want to refine their practice.  Learn how to move the body consciously and thoughtfully while bringing a quality of attention to your practice and into your everyday life.

Movement Scale: Level 3 – moderate to high activity


Buti Yoga: This calorie-scorching workout fuses power yoga with cardio-intensive tribal dance and body sculpting plyometrics. Buti Yoga utilizes the Spiral Structure Technique to sculpt and tone the deep abdominal muscles that stabilize and strengthen the body. Class ends with sound healing during Savasana.

Movement Scale: Level 5 – high activity, cardio

Movement Scale starts at level 0 = no movement required and gradually increases to level 5 = high activity level, cardio class.
